Guantanamo Bay is a U.S. military base/prison in the Southeast of Cuba. It is a super controversial topic in American politics today because of the inhumane treatment of prisoners, a statement echoed by the EU, Leaders of Muslim countries, Amnesty International, and more.

I was working in Guantonomo Bay, Cuba in 2003 for 81 days. I was working construction but whenever the prisoners from 9/11 arrived on base... you knew. The security for the transport was insane. Even on one of the most secure bases in the world. I actually have a video on RUclips showing you around the base.

Here's what's really crazy. We almost had him in late 2002. We were only a day or two behind him. Finding his hair that DNA matched. The works. Then, the military pulled a lot of our assets out of Afghanistan for the spin-up for Iraq and we lost resources needed to catch him and get it over with quickly.

Terrorists give you zero rights- therefor they also have no rights.

I know that you are only reacting to a video. But there is alot of Americans, including me that don't believe that bin laden was the one behind the 9/11 attack. Nor do we believe that he is dead.

Now all you guys need is a big screen tv and a remote and there you go your Americans now. Typical American family

Sam is right, Gitmo is a Naval base on the island of Cuba. After the Spanish-American War in 1898 the United States had gained control of Cuba. When the United States gave Cuba it's independence they worked out a deal to establish a military base on the island agreeing to pay Cuba a fee for letting them lease the area which base would be located. The lease was for 100 years with the option to renew it. Many people have felt we should finally give up the base but wanted to continue with it because it was seen as a thorn in Castro's side, but many believed it was still important to our defense. A section was fenced off to hold and house the 911 prisoners, the treatment of the prisoners has come under considerable criticism by many Americans and people around the world. With not only President George Bush receiving criticism but the Vice President Dick Chaney who oversaw the project and supported many of the tactics used on the prisoners including water boarding. They were viewed as prisoners of war to justify the tactics being used. Our country is at a very serious cross road in our history now with the possibility of our next president destroying our democracy and our freedoms for his personal own gain. With want we through on 911 I am hoping most Americans will not support him on November 5th and we can send him off to prison for what he called his supporters to do on January 6,2021. More than ever before in our history we need Americans to open up their eyes to what this man is really about and not give him a second chance to bring our democracy down.

Guantanamo Bay is located on Cuba. The U.S. has a long-term lease for a military base there. It is illegal to torture prisoners anywhere, but the govt lawyers were able for a while to allow for torture outside the U.S. so prisoners were brought back from wherever they were caught and tortured there. It was wrong. Many people tortured were not guilty of anything, but we turned them into future terrorists. “In 1934 a new Cuban-American Treaty of Relations, reaffirming the lease, granted Cuba and its trading partners free access through the bay, modified the lease payment from $2,000 in U.S. gold coins per year to the 1934 equivalent value of $4,085 in U.S. dollars, and made the lease permanent unless both governments agreed to break it or until the U.S. abandoned the base property." Cuba does not cash the check as they claim the lease was made under duress and want it back.

Pakistan was working with the US, but at the same time, many of the Pakistani officials had ties to Al-Qaeda, so they weren't completely trusted if at all. That's why the US didn't inform Pakistan of the raid on Bin Laden's compound because the US didn't trust them to not tip him off ahead of time. Also, Guantanemo Bay aka "Gitmo" aka "The Spa" is a US Military base in mainland Cuba and not its own island or anything like that. It currently no longer holds any Al-Qaeda prisoners to my knowledge and instead holds many other prisoners (child traffickers, pedophiles, US traitors, various government officials etc) for a series of differentcrimes (crimes against humanity, treason, pedophilia, cannibalism, and more)...which people will likely find out about later this year.

Keep the history alive it's important that all of us remember this. Be very careful to not allow this to fall out of memory. And always remember the bad guys don't go unpunished.

Fact , Alex Jones predicted that planes would be flown into the towers months before it happened and he said it would be blamed on a ex CIA asset named Bin Laden. It took me 20 years to get to the point were i would even entertain conspiracy theories about 9/11 but there is some dark evidence that it may have been way more to the story . They were well trained and extra careful. It seems that nobody knew everything, and his own people were given misinformation. But you can only slow down the United States Of America, not stop them.

Guantanamo Bay is a US military base in Cuba which the US has leased from the Cuban government since 1903 (shortly after Cuba became independent from Spain) and there is no fixed date to end the lease. While obviously the current Castro government would like the US gone, they are not prepared to try to remove it by force. Until the Trade Center attack, Guantanamo was simply a Navy/Marine Corps base in the Caribbean. It was chosen as the place to send persons believed connected to the attack because it is NOT on US territory and therefore it was believed that US Constitutional protections did not apply (although this has been litigated repeatedly since). There was also the concern that if any of the detainees held there were found innocent and their home countries would not accept their deportation, they might have to be released in the US if they were being held here.

Zero Dark Thirty (not for kids) is a great depiction of the events. Also, many of these Al Qaeda members that were interrogated and held prisoner were kept at CIA Black Sites in the Middle East, and not in Guantanamo. Guantanamo is located on a small area of Cuba, the only territory controlled by the U.S. in Cuba. Some of the 9/11 terrorists are still held there. In the Tom Cruises movie, A Few Good Men, part of the movie takes place at a fictional Guantanamo Bay. Great movie-nothing to do with 9/11, but worth watching.

Imagine being that person or agent, whoever it was, following that man to Osama's hideout...that would have been TENSE. Obviously they weren't sure it's where Osama was at the time but they knew this guy was closely tied to him and they had to have known they just uncovered something huge when pulling up to that compound. That's not the type of place some low level terrorist scrub goes, it was fortified and would have been far too expensive for anyone but the big dogs. Every cell in my body would have been screaming NOPE time to go! 😂

I read that the whole thing about gitmo was that if they took suspected terrorists there, where they can get away with whatever there(inhumane conditions), cause if they touched US soil then they would have to follow due process and go thru court system

Guantanamo Bay is a US Naval base on the Island of Cuba. It's been under US control since the 1903. Since 1959, the Cuban government has wanted the US to leave. The US refuses to do so and it still sends its year rent to the Cuban government. From what I understand, the Cubans have never cashed any of the rent checks since Fidel Castro and his family came into power in 1959. The rule of the lease agreement states that the US can remain in control of the base as long as they never abandon the base. The US will never do that so the base will always be in American control All foreigners who were caught overseas in connection with terrorism after 9/11 were (and are) sent to the base because under US law it is not in the US. Yes, it is a US base, but for legal reasons it is not considered in the US. This means that the prisoners there do not get the same rights as if they were in the US. Of course, the liberals and Democrats disagree with this and they have been trying to close down the base since forever. As far as I understand, American citizens can never be jailed on the base. All foreigners can locked up there when and if they are caught overseas for crimes against the US government or for terrorist activities. I used to know a US Marine who was a guard at the base after the 9/11. He knew that I lost a family member in NYC on 9/11 in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. For this very reason, he told me how savage the guys locked up there were and still are. The enjoyment these guys get from killing would make your skin crawl.

Who was he? He was the man we funded and armed for 20+ years, that we used as a scapegoat once he was no longer needed. That's who he was.
